CBD

Cannabinoid (CBD) is one of many chemical compound found in the cannabis or marijuana plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis and causes the sensation of getting “high.” Unlike THC, however, CBD contains no psychoactive effect. This unique quality of CBD makes for an appealing option for those who seeks pain relief without the mind-altering effect of marijuana. CBD offers a wonderful alternative for the current narcotic/opioid epidemic.

The human body contains a specialized system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is involved in the regulation of a variety of functions: sleep, appetite, pain and immune system response. Several human studies have shown CBD to be effective in treating pain related to Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

Anxiety and depression are common mental health disorders that can impacts one’s health and well-being. CBD oil has been used to safely treat insomnia and anxiety in children with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Using CBD has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression. CBD may help to reduce symptoms related to cancer and the side effects related to the cancer treatment like nausea, vomiting and pain. The stress and anxiety reducing properties of CBD has played a pivotal role in its ability to help lower blood pressure.

Acne is a common skin condition that affects teenagers and young adults. Acne can be caused by a number of factors : genetics, bacteria, underlying inflammation or the overproduction of sebum ( an oily secretion made by sebaceous glands in the skin). Based on recent scientific studies, CBD oil may help in the treatment of acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties along with its ability to reduce sebum production.

Researchers believe that CBD has the ability to act on the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and other brain signaling systems to provide benefits for those suffering with neurological disorders. Epidiolex is a liquid formulation of CBD that has recently been approved in the US for the treatment of Dravet Syndrome, a complex childhood epilepsy disorder. Sativex, an oral CBD spray has been found to be safe and effective in reducing muscle spasticity in people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). CBD has also been shown to improve the quality of life and sleep quality for people with Parkinson’s Disease.

What is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology is a scientific process, whereby extract of CBD is significantly reduced in size in order for the CBD to pass through the bloodstream much easier. Thus, bioavailability or the amount of CBD that is actually absorbed by the body versus the amount of CBD that is excreted as waste, is greatly increased.

In June 2018, the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) approved Epidiolex, the first prescription medication to contain CBD for the treatment of a difficult seizure or epilepsy in people with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome or Dravet Syndrome.

CBD has also been helpful with other various conditions such as:

  1. Seizure or Epilepsy

  2. Inflammation or swelling

  3. Psychosis or mental disorders

  4. Inflammatory Bowel Disease

  5. Nausea

  6. Migraine headache

  7. Depression

  8. Anxiety

  9. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

CBD is found to be well tolerated even in larger dosage. Any side effects that may occur with CBD is more likely the result of drug-to-drug interactions between CBD and other medications that you may be taking.

Nuemedi will be carrying product lines of CBD that utilizes nanotechnology in the tinctures, oils, gummies and creams.
